RON JOHNSON AND RUSS FEINGOLD SHARE ADDICTION TO SPENDING
Like most of their colleagues in the Democratic and Republican parties, Ron Johnson and Russ Feingold are ignoring unsustainable levels of Federal spending, says Phil Anderson, U.S. Senate candidate for the Libertarian Party.
“It doesn’t matter if it is new entitlements or more bucks for the Pentagon, spending is spending,” said Anderson. “Raising spending is always a sure-fire way to convince voters you are working on their behalf; at the same time, you are picking their pockets to pay for your plans or using their credit cards to push the bill out into the distant future.”
“Ron Johnson thinks our military has been ‘hollowed out’ despite 13 years of constant war,” said Anderson. “Russ Feingold wants to increase infrastructure spending, let the government pick small business winners and losers, and ‘invest’ in high speed internet for everyone. Put these proposals together with Clinton’s free college and Trump’s government subsidized maternity leave, and whichever way the election goes, Federal spending will just continue its inexorable rise.”
“I will push for the complete elimination of entire Federal departments, like Education and Housing and Urban Development,” said Anderson. “I will not propose any new entitlements and will instead look at innovate ways to fund and secure our existing entitlements, like Medicare and Social Security. If needed to balance our budget, I will support across the board spending cuts.”
“We are approaching 20 trillion dollars in debt,” said Anderson. “This is not only a potential fiscal disaster, but a national security issue, leaving us vulnerable to the pressures of foreign investors. Spending must be reduced.”
