PHILLIP ANDERSON ONLY U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE TO ENDORSE MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION
Libertarian Party U.S. Senate candidate Phillip Anderson endorses the legalization of marijuana in Wisconsin, in contrast to his two opponents, Russ Feingold and Ron Johnson.
“The War on Drugs has broken communities, ruined lives, and in the end, done more damage to people’s lives than the substances we have been trying to save them from,” said Anderson. “While I do not advocate the immediate legalization of harder drugs like heroin or cocaine, I certainly don’t see how we can justify pursuing and punishing Wisconsin residents who pursue the recreational use of marijuana.”
“Russ Feingold remains silent on the issue of the War on Drugs,” said Anderson. “Ron Johnson thinks ‘Just Say No’ is a neat idea. I am not afraid to call the War on Drugs a failure and propose solutions that reduce the citizen’s fear of their government and re-focus law enforcement resources on crimes that have actual victims.”
“Real leadership does not dodge issues or fall back on old slogans,” said Anderson. “People do not want to be led by fear, but served by common sense and respect. I respect Wisconsin’s citizen’s ability to make their own choices.”
Anderson will be a featured speaker Sunday, October 2 at the Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Fest in Madison, WI, speaking immediately before the March from Library Mall to the State Capitol.
